In this article, I want to share with you my experience as a mom and my review of the Naturepedic crib mattress. This mattress offers two stages: one for toddlers and another for infants. At one point or another, every mother has worried about something terrible happening to their babies, particularly when they’re sleeping. And something that we can do to help alleviate those fears is getting a crib mattress that is breathable and all-natural as well. Naturepedic’s crib mattress fits that bill. So, let’s take a look!

A 100% Breathable Crib Mattress

Infant deaths that happen unexpectedly are quite scary. Studies show that around 26% of infant deaths occur due to accidental suffocation.

One thing that we can do to help prevent this terrible fate is to have breathable items in your crib, so a breathable crib mattress. What I love about Naturepedic’s crib mattress is that it’s 100% breathable but it’s also waterproof which is very unusual in the market. While other mattresses may claim to be breathable, they often lack both organic materials and 100% waterproofing. Naturepedic offers something truly unique.

Looking for an Organic, Eco-friendly Bundle?

This mattress happens to be certified by several organizations to be safe and completely non-toxic. A couple of those organizations are the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). As such, you can trust that your baby won’t be exposed to pesticides – not even from the mattress’ cotton. It doesn’t contain any formaldehyde, chemicals, or Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), either. Naturepedic’s crib mattress is GREENGUARD-certified to be safe and non-toxic.This product also happens to be very eco-friendly. It meets standards enforced by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), and as such, the wood originates from a reputable custody chain. Naturepedic endeavors to protect lands and ecosystems, holding Green America certification. They are recognized as being socially, environmentally, and ethically responsible manufacturer.Organic padding is what is inside the waterproof cover. The padding is USDA-organic, meaning it originates from American farms, and the interior cotton is completely organic. There is some padding on the bottom layer, giving toddlers a little cushioning. Between the bottom and top layer lies a firm, sturdy wave core. It is quite lightweight, simplifying the process of changing sheets. This can be quite convenient if the youngster wets the crib or spills something in it.

Quite Easy to Keep Clean

The top cover of the mattress has waffled construction. The texture is somewhat raised, allowing your baby to breathe comfortably. The mattress is made with polyethylene material which is completely sealed – nothing gets in or out of it. There are no holes for dust mites to remain dormant, and the material is hypoallergenic. And that’s what makes it so great because if your baby is potty training when they get a little bit older or if they spit up a lot because my first baby did not spit up a lot but then our second spit up a ton, so I’m really thankful that we have something waterproof. All you need to do is take the cover off, wash and wipe it, and you’re good to go!

Coils and Foam Versions

The Naturepedic crib mattress is on the expensive side compared to other crib mattresses out there. It is over $250. And they do have another option of coils that is a little bit more, although I don’t really see the purpose of coils. I personally think that the foam version is better. Coils make the mattress heavier. I would definitely go with the more lightweight one because changing the sheets is a little cumbersome when you have something very heavy.

Impressive Warranty

The mattress comes with an impressive warranty, one that lasts a lifetime. If you’re planning on having more than one child, you’ll be able to pass this mattress down. It can also be given to loved ones, though you should know that the warranty covers just the individual owner. This is par for the course when it comes to mattress companies, though.

The pros of this mattress are vast. It is completely organic, GREENGUARD–certified, breathable, lightweight, dual-sided for infant/toddler changeovers, eco-friendly, and made in America. The downside is its cost. With that said, you should put away a decent budget for a mattress that your baby will be spending a lot of time in. Most of their time in the crib will be spent sleeping, so you need to keep them inside something that is completely organic, comfortable, and safe.I hope that what I have told you here will help you with your important choice of the best crib mattress for your baby. As a mother, I recommend the one made by Naturepedic.
